LENSOPT

Terms of Service

Last updated: July 22, 2026

Introduction

Welcome to LensOpt (“we,” “our,” or “us”). These Terms of Service (“Terms”) govern your use of lensopt.com and all of its calculators, guides, and content (collectively, the “Service”). By using the Service, you agree to these Terms. If you don’t agree, please don’t use the site.

We may update these Terms from time to time. Continued use after a change means you accept the revised Terms.

What LensOpt Is — and Isn’t

LensOpt is an independent, ad-supported information site. Its calculators produce educational estimatesfrom the figures you enter and standard optical formulas — pupillary distance, vertex-distance power conversion, frame fit, lens thickness, sunglass tint category, and contact-lens cost. These estimates are not a prescription, a dispensing, or medical advice, and LensOpt is not an optician, optometrist, ophthalmologist, lens lab, or eyewear retailer. A qualified eye-care professional who examines your eyes is the authority on your prescription, lenses, and eye health.

Use the Estimates as a Starting Point

Real eyewear depends on details a calculator can’t see. A dispensed pair of glasses uses a professionally measured PD; a contact-lens power depends on the fit and health of your eye, not just a formula; lens thickness varies with frame shape, decentration, and the lab’s minimums; and the right tint depends on your needs and local law. Treat every result as a figure to understand your options and sanity-check a quote — not as a guaranteed outcome — and confirm anything that affects your vision or eye health with a professional before you act.

No Warranty

The Service is provided “as is” and “as available.” We strive for accurate formulas but do not warrant that results are error-free, complete, or suitable for your specific eyes, prescription, or eyewear, or that the site will always be available. To the fullest extent permitted by law, we disclaim all implied warranties, including merchantability and fitness for a particular purpose.

Limitation of Liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law, LensOpt and its suppliers are not liable for any indirect, incidental, or consequential damages — including ordering the wrong glasses or lenses, or eye discomfort — that arise from your use of, or inability to use, the Service. You are responsible for confirming figures with a qualified eye-care professional before ordering eyewear or acting on anything that affects your vision.

Third-Party Links & Ads

The site displays third-party advertising (including Google AdSense) and may link to third-party retailers or resources. We don’t control and aren’t responsible for their content, prices, or practices, and a link is not an endorsement. Use them at your own risk and review their terms.
